Privacy Policy
PermitPilot helps homeowners understand and monitor public building permit records. This policy explains what information we collect and how we use it.
Information we collect
- Permit information. We collect permit numbers and public permit records, including addresses, statuses, reviews, reviewers, and related dates.
- Account information. If you create an account, we collect your name and email address. You may also provide a phone number and architect information.
- Usage information. We collect basic information about how visitors use the website, such as pages viewed, permit lookup events, device type, and general location.
- Technical information. We process IP addresses and request details to secure the service, limit abuse, and diagnose errors. Rate-limiting identifiers are stored in an anonymized form.
How we use information
We use information to display and monitor permits, send requested email updates, improve PermitPilot, prevent abuse, troubleshoot failed permit checks, and operate the service safely.
Service providers
We use service providers to run PermitPilot, including Clerk for account authentication, Cloudflare for hosting and security, and Google Analytics for website measurement. These providers process information under their own privacy terms.
Sharing and selling
We do not sell personal information. We may share information with service providers that help us operate PermitPilot, when required by law, or to protect the service and its users.
Data retention and choices
Tracked project and profile information is retained until you delete it or ask us to delete your account. Security and diagnostic records may be kept for a reasonable period. You can turn off email updates in your profile. SMS notifications are not currently available.
Children
PermitPilot is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
