How to check a Bellevue building permit status
A permit can say Pending while several different departments are doing completely different things. The fastest way to understand it is to look past the overall label and check the current review activity.
Start with the permit number
Bellevue permit records are public through MyBuildingPermit. A permit number gives you the official status, project details, review departments, reviewers, and activity dates.

Do not stop at Pending
- Open, In Review, or In Box usually means the city still has work to do.
- Revision Requested usually means your architect needs to coordinate a response.
- Approved means that department is done with its current review round.
- Ready to Issue usually means the reviews are done but fees or contractor information may still be needed.
Look at the dates
The useful question is not only what the status says. It is how long the permit has been sitting there. Check the latest submission or activity date and compare it with the normal amount of time you are willing to wait before following up.
